What to expect

If you haven't been to one of our Sunday Services yet, you may be looking here to find out what you might expect when you walk through the door!

church from choir stalls

First of all, we can ensure you of a warm welcome! As you enter the church, we have at least two sidespeople with a smile and a welcome for each worshipper!  If you are unsure of what to do, these wonderful people will be able to point you in the right direction.  They will also hand you some papers as you enter. Most likely you will find:

  • A weekly news-sheet, which contains information regarding the the Bible readings for the service, notices for the church and local community, and diary dates for the following week and beyond.
  • Large print copies of the weekly service, service booklet and hymns for that service if you need them.

If the church is very busy, the sidespeople will be able to direct you to a seat. If you have a specific need to sit on the end of the pew or closer to the front, please let them know, and they will be able to help get you comfortable.

You will find the hymn book and service book at each seat in a holder in front of you. The hymn numbers for the service are displayed on the wall to the right of the altar and beside the choir stalls.

At the 10am service, a collection bag is passed around during one of the hymns. At the 8am service there is a plate as you come into the church. At evening services, there will be a plate either at the back of the church, or just inside the Chapel, depending on where the service is to be held.

If you are worried about what to wear, please be assured that you can dress as you feel most comfortable and blend into our congregation! Some of our members like to dress in their Sunday Best, whilst others are happier in jeans and t-shirts! God doesn't judge anyone on their outer clothing and neither do we!

After the 10am service, refreshments are available in the church hall. There are colouring activities laid out to amuse the children, so you have a chance to have a cup of tea or coffee and get to know other worshippers!
