A good way to start becoming aware of how much disposable plastic we use is to make a small investment in greaseproof paper sheets and kraft paper bags, and carry them with you when grocery shopping, in a reusable shopping bag.
Whenever you buy loose goods such as veg, fruit or bread, use your own paper packaging instead of the plastic bags the supermarket provides and cut down on the amount of plastic you send to landfill.
You’ll be able to wash and reuse the greaseproof paper, and often you can reuse the paper bags too for food storage at home.
You’ll very quickly raise your awareness of how many of these types of loose goods come packaged in unnecessary plastic.
