Tuesday 13th October 2026, 7.30pm-9pm
Dr Ellie Atkins is Consultant Clinical Psychologist who works with children, young people and families both within the NHS and in private practice. Ellie is also a qualified teacher and started her career working with children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, children in care, those who had committed crimes and those with significant mental health difficulties. She has worked with neurodivergent children including those with ASD, ADHD and other diagnoses for her entire career.
Ellie is also mum to two brilliant children both of whom are neurodivergent. She juggles parenting her brilliant, complex, tricky, lovely children alongside her career. In an age when everyone on social media (and beyond) has set themselves up as an expert, it can be hard to know who to trust and what advice to follow. This free session does bring genuine expertise to help you parent in a way which helps you and your family. Ellie brings proficiency gained from her lived experience and from her training and clinical work.
Ellie wrote 'Coping with parenting when your child is neurodivergent' because parenting is hard work, and parenting neurodivergent children can be particularly challenging. Often, as parents we can struggle to make sense of the experiences we are having and end up feeling deficit or struggling to know how best to help our children. Ellie put words to this experience, and thinks with you about what can be useful at these times.
