All Saints Church Annual Sponsored Walk to raise funds for our Mission Partners, the Koens Family
Bank Holiday Monday 1st May
From All Saints to the old Saxon Church of St Peter and St Paul in the grounds of Albury Park..
The Route
Walking along the North Downs Way to St Martha’s and then following the Deer Trail to Albury, a total of 6 ½ miles - 3 ¾ to St Martha’s, and another 2 ¾ to Albury. If anyone would prefer to join us at St Martha’s, park in the car park in Guildford Lane GU5 9BQ. Non-walkers are more than welcome to join us at Albury about 12.45 or 1pm
The Plan
We will leave All Saints at 10am and walk to St Martha’s arriving approx. 11.30am where we will have a short rest and snack stop (bring your own!) and meet up with those who want a shorter walk. We then proceed to Albury aiming to arrive approx. 12.45pm. There we will have a picnic lunch followed by a short service in the old Church led by Beverly to pray for Andrew and Clare and the children and their work in Papua New Guinea.
Everyone can be involved: if you think you would like to walk, please sign up – a list will be on the notice board. If you would like to join in the picnic and service only, please also sign up, so we know who to expect. If you can’t come, please consider sponsoring someone who can. There will be sponsor forms available.
Getting back to Guildford: There is a 2 hourly bus service from just outside Albury Park to Guildford leaving at 13.44, 15.44, 17.44. Or arrange to share a car with a friend. Or a brisk walk home!
To be aware: The path is a little steep in places and there are parts which are rough with rocks or tree roots or may be muddy. There is one stile to climb over. It is not suitable for pushchairs. However the paths are bridleways and possible for off-road bikes (I think!). The only public toilet en route is at Shalford Park.
